Renovation Revamp: A Complete Kitchen Transformation

ramish 1 min read

When the Hendersons first walked us through their kitchen, the biggest complaint was simple: it felt disconnected from the rest of the house. A wall separated the kitchen from the living room, cabinets from the 1990s ate up counter space without giving much back, and a single overhead fixture left the room dim even at midday.

The Challenge

The kitchen needed more storage and counter space, but the family didn’t want to lose square footage from the adjacent living room. Budget and a six-week timeline were both firm.

The Design Plan

We removed the non-structural wall between the kitchen and living room, opening up sightlines across the whole main floor. A ten-foot island replaced a run of lower cabinets, adding both storage and a spot for the kids to do homework while dinner is cooking.

The Result

  • Full-height cabinetry with a hidden pantry – roughly 30% more storage than before
  • New island with quartz waterfall countertop and seating for four
  • Layered lighting: recessed cans, pendant lights over the island, and under-cabinet task lighting
  • Completed on schedule, in six weeks, with no change orders

The Hendersons now describe the kitchen as “the room we didn’t know we were missing.” If your kitchen feels closed off or dated, this kind of transformation is often more achievable – and more affordable – than homeowners expect.
